C'Mon Gromit, we're still waiting for more info about this BW transfer box :D

ok, ok! :)

Here are some more pictures for Dave:

The info stamped on the box is this:

W.G DIV

<borg warner logo> MUNCIE, IND

13-06-065-901

W.G is Warner Gear division.

Putting the part number into google results in a lot of Jeep forums!!!:o

Nothing definitive other than it might possibly be a 'Quadratrac' transfer box.

So, looking up a 'Quadratrac' in google comes up with quadratrac 1305

Looking at the pictures, it certainly looks like it, though we've the 13-06, not the 13-05

Weird eh?

Have you tried contacting Dave Ashctroft? or pointing him in the direction of this thread?

What he doesn't know about LR transmissions isn't worth knowing!

Yep, he's en route :)

Then again, it would appear that it's not an LR transmission. :(

in the initial post :D

LOL, I know that is what he said...but it took him three month to identify the transfer case. Maybe he is wrong on the gearbox.

Weird that someone would go to the trouble to custom fit a Quadratrac in the UK. A bunch of extra work for a hard to find and inferior box. It would be interesting to see how it mates up. Maybe they just bolt up... That would be really strange.

Ahem, 2 months. <_<

To be honest, I didn't look into it properly (till Ralph pushed me :) ) because the truck is going, the diggers have been driving it about happily and finances for the moment will not allow for an LT230.

Plus the bottom of it is manky!

Anyway, to keep you happy, I'll jetwash the bottom of it and take some daylight pictures of how it mates up. I don't really care other than we'll need to be able to fit an LT230 back on to it.

As you say though, very strange why someone would go to the bother of fitting it.

Inside the Original Jeep Quadra-Trac

loads of more info here

Beware:

The Quadra-Trac system needs a special formulation of oil to allow proper friction between the cones and plates of the differential. TCL-1 from Crown Automotive is a duplicate of the factory formula and comes in quart bottles. Two bottles are more than enough to fill a Quadra-Trac that has the reduction unit installed. Also remember that there are two separate fill plugs for the case and the reduction unit, and each must be filled separately. The fluid is very susceptible to water contamination and should always be changed after water running or once a year in humid environs.

Really weird to find in a 110- or any other LR for that matter! I could sort of see how one could be put in one over here where the T-cases are common but over there?! WTF?

It isn't an awful T case- it was pretty innovative in its day. Full time 4wd with a center limited slip that can be locked up with vacuum for 50:50 torque split F&R. It should have a 1:1 high range ratio unlike the LT230 and LR BW t case.

I'd love to know how it ended up where it is though.
