DiscoHere Posted December 21, 2014 Share Posted December 21, 2014 Hi all My 2003 Disco 2 has developed an annoying habit. Sometimes when i turn the key all i get is a click instead of a turnover. It has started when I persist every time to-date but i am worried it will someday let me down fully. Otherwise working perfectly All suggestions welcome By the way it has been very wet and i was wading (shallow) yesterday. Maybe something to do with water???? dave88sw Posted December 21, 2014 Share Posted December 21, 2014 Very common problem, the solenoid on the starter motor fails due to dirty contacts, you can get rebuild kits but to be honest, a new starter isn't massively expensive and i've done a few that have given up again shortly after. While you're there, check that the fuel pressure regulator isn't leaking as sometimes a leaky regulator pours diesel over the starter and kills it.
