tacr2man
The load leveller Boge hydromat units are prohibitively expensive , has anyone looked at replacing them with a air suspension type unit ? They are basically a self pressuring air jack unit .
dirtyninety
I'm sure I read somewhere about someone either doing or thinking about replacing the boge with a self leveling shock absorber off an estate car. Food for thought
elbekko
That could definitely work. You may need a non-LR air spring though, as its angle and the fact there's only one means it requires a whole lot of force to level te car with a big load in the back. tacr2man
Just been having a further look , and due size constraints the pressure would need to be fairly high , which would not be a good idea for longevity . probably be better with air springs further out? Nigelw
I had thoughts about this when Reb78 was having his Boge strut on the 110 reconditioned. It was indeed the tight space to fit it that put me off and made the thinking of air springs on the back axle with ride height sensors to level the load, but then again, if you're going to do the back might as well go full air front and back and have the lift for off roading at the flick of a switch and then back to road height agin. I always did wonder why LR never fitted the self levelling to the 7 seat Discoveries like they did the 110 CSWs and RRCs???
