defender dinky Posted December 29, 2014 Share Posted December 29, 2014 hi, problem dragging on now, symptoms rubbing groaning noise from front n/s comes in about 20mph get faster with speed when you remove foot off the pedal and coast and slow down its really loud grinding noise as if the brakes are grinding but theres no brakes applied put new disc/pads, new calliper guidepins checked calliper not seized new wheel bearing yesterday still the same, when we bought the car 9months ago previous owner removed propshaft off the back and now its a 2wd any ideas Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

defender dinky Posted January 1, 2015 Author Share Posted January 1, 2015 thks for your reply kieran75, no leaks from blanking plate checked oil in ird ifs that what you meant emptied oil out and found it to be well short only 400mml so flushed box out and renewed with correct level still got grinding noise so while I was under neath I changed gearbox oil which seemed quite good but changed anyway still got noise, misses went out in today and tried it coasting in neutral still got noise but seems worse grinding as if brake are applied with very worn pads Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
