need4speed
Raking through my boxes of parts I dug out a starter motor I bought a while back. It was an ebay purchase and although it was 2nd hand, the seller said it bench tested ok. It's a Bosch and carries a LR part number ERR6087. Are these easily refurbished? Les Henson
Bosch are a good make (expensive too). Not much to refurb really - assuming you could get the parts. Motor brushes, front and rear bearings is about all for the main body apart from the electronics. Solenoids are usually sold as a single unit, so plunger, spring, main body, may not be sold seperately. Les.
need4speed
Maybe I should just give it a careful clean and install it then? Especially if they are good..
PaulN
Yes good! Just refurbish one of mine (boy it was black and sticky inside!) All parts can be obtained here LINKY worth doing - as above and bearings, brushes etc
missingsid
I bought a secondhand Bosch P38 V8 starter as I got fed up of the mud in the solenoid, the Bosch one is sealed in a rubber boot? As mine was guaranteed I did nothing to it but fit it. It is one of the best things I've done! As it is a high speed one to boot it sounds like an aircraft starting.
