Bosch Starter

Recommended Posts

Raking through my boxes of parts I dug out a starter motor I bought a while back. It was an ebay purchase and although it was 2nd hand, the seller said it bench tested ok.

It's a Bosch and carries a LR part number ERR6087.

Are these easily refurbished?

Bosch are a good make (expensive too). Not much to refurb really - assuming you could get the parts. Motor brushes, front and rear bearings is about all for the main body apart from the electronics. Solenoids are usually sold as a single unit, so plunger, spring, main body, may not be sold seperately.

I bought a secondhand Bosch P38 V8 starter as I got fed up of the mud in the solenoid, the Bosch one is sealed in a rubber boot?

As mine was guaranteed I did nothing to it but fit it.

It is one of the best things I've done!

As it is a high speed one to boot it sounds like an aircraft starting.
