garney48
i am considering installing a external oil filter to my auto transmission. have read some where that the oil flow in the oil cooler circuit reverses direction !!! is this correct? Boydie
The pump on the ZF4HP22 and HP24 is on the input shaft immediately after the torque converter, it can only turn in the same direction as the engine so no, the flow should always be in then same direction. If you install a secondary oil filter it could affect the oil pressure at the centrifugal governor so there is no telling what that will do to your gear changes, I wouldn't do it. Rangy35
Why a extra filter?
Boydie
That's what I'm thinking Rangy, the standard oil filter is quite sufficient. No telling what an additional one will do to the pump (possible overloading) or t the final flow pressure to the centrifugal governor and valve plate solenoids.
