Freelander 2 - Headlamp Bulb Replacement

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Please excuse the lack of technical speak as I know very little about what makes cars work although I am keen to learn. So I bought some new brighter headlamp bulbs for my Freelander2 and stuck my head under the bonnet to change them (after turning down the offer of the man at Halfords to fit them). However it looks like I might have to move a few bits (very technical) to get the required access, is this the case or does anyone have a simple approach?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

did you manage to replace the bulb?

It seems there are not many FL 2 owners on this forum.

I hope the reason is there are no tech problems with FL2 - and this is because I have just decided to sell my FL 1 and buy a brand new FL 2.

In a couple of weeks I will be able to advise you upon replacing bulbs, I think :-)

Viorel,

The bulb replacement is on the weekend's to do list. I have found an online user manual at the 'Owner Information Website' link from this page: http://www.landrover.co.uk/gb/en/ownership/about-my-land-rover/instructional-videos-and-manuals/handsbooks-and-manuals.htm

It indicates that I need to remove the entire headlight although it goes on to say that I still need to replace the bulb via the access at the back of the lamp which I think will be very tight at best!

I'll update and let people know how I get on.

Thank you for the link, I have added it to Favorites.

Having a look to the Specs, I have noticed that the UK equipment levels (S, GS, XS, HSE) are slightly different than the ones for continental Europe. Here in Romania we can choose between E, S, SE an HSE. The optionals included in each package are more or less the same (e.g. S=E, GS=S, XS=SE etc). I am now looking forward to get my S (or GS in UK) an I hope that the car will have parking aid (rear), included in GS.

Off topic: Does anybody know a link to a free VIN decoder? Starting with Freelander 2 the VINs are different than before and can't be decoded with older softwares such as CalVin.

What do you want to know?

I can load your VIN in Microcat and get the build info if that's what your after.

Thank you, if you can do this, please check this VIN: SALFA28B19H134350

As I said, te older decoders don't work, they don't even recognize the model, trim or the manufacturing site.
