redneck
Some of the many landrovers at the show, probably in the hundreds. And one of my favourites, from the other side of the Iron curtain
missingsid
i met some guy's this morning with Jeeps and full uniform etc. who used to go to the original show. Apparently this year the participants where charged £20 per military vehicle and £30 per support vehicle! They declined the event on the basis that they were the show and the punters pay to enter! squaddiefox
I think they are right, they are the attraction. Money grabbing show organisers or didn't think they would get the punters in to pay for the site and staff?
redneck
It did seem a little quieter than last year, but I put that down to the weather. As punter I didn't know about the charges for the vehicles, although the guys do get to camp out for the week so I would say that its not too bad. However the entry charges for punters are a bit on the high side, especially for kids, many people I know were put off going because of the high costs for a family. I'm not sure if it was the cost for support vehicles but there were definitely less of them, and the many that were there, were well camouflaged, making the displays far more authentic. Personally I found it worthwhile going, I went Friday (on my own shopping and drooling) and Saturday (with the family)
SWB
Thanks for the photo's. After doing the War & Peace Show for nearly twenty years and my second trip to the new venue, a 630 mile round trip, I doubt if I will make effort again. For numerous years the main complaint was the toilet facilities, which in the past were organised by The Hop Farm, now the venue has moved all the past complaints were taken in and would be resolved........many of us here have been "in the field", as we are now a little older personal comforts are expected when paying GBP£25.00 to display our vehicles for the fare paying public to view. ( Who also had to endure the same toilet facilities.) For GBP£25.00 the camping was a very cheap price to pay, I have never had any problems with paying the money, but the toilets were the worst since 2009 at the Hop Farm. Personally, I do not like the new venue, give me the Hop Farm anytime, I may make a trip sometime in the future. Cheers, SWB.
