bushwhacker
Hello to all. I have a vacuum pump that was leaking so I removed it and took the top bit off to replace the rivets with nuts and bolts. On seeing inside mine has what to me looks like the black rubber seal has nipped and come out of its recces there is also a very small metal tab in the same place as the nipped seal. Is this the way it should look?

bushwhacker
Yea thanks, came across that on my trawl. I have mine spilt but the seal in the bigger part looks nipped and holed in mine.
Boydie
It sounds to me (not seeing any photos) that one of the poppet valves has come adrift - not an uncommon problem with the Wabco Vacuum pump --you have three options; 1.) Try to fix it, (good luck with that) 2.) Replace it with anew OE pump. or 3.) Urine it off and fit an electric vacuum pump, an Audi wreaker will be able to supply you one from any of their diesel series.
