muss12
Good morning all, Has anyone come up with a fix that stops water getting into the lenses? And has anyone come up with a way of waterproofing the wiring connectors as well? broke down the other night and with the hazards on and water in the lights it melted all my indicator wiring
Maverik
Oh that's rather rubbush, sorry to hear that. I've got NAS style lights that the lenses still leak but its a bit more manageable, I put grease in the plugs and a basic electricians tape seal around the bulb holder to lens body. I think original LR lights do have a drain gap on one side of the lens, you just have to make sure you put the lenses on the right way for the water to drain out... muss12
Thanks Maverik, Think tape and grease is the way to go then
Sharpe
Yep - got mine taped where needed, I never noticed a drain - best check I have got them on the right way!!!
western
later lights 300tdi on are one piece lens & backplate, these are more waterproof than the earlier lights or swap to sealed led units.
muss12
Shot myself in the foot Ralph, what they say about buying cheap buy twice is true with landrover parts! Got some new wiring for the side lights and some holders at a cost of £34 opened the box and it was all britpart! well the fittings are worse then carp should I say, have to look into the later sealed lights, you wouldn't have a part number laying around for them Ralph? western
not for sealed led lights, can sort number for the later one part lens/backplate type though

red-dragon
Definitely replace with the sealed LED units. Much better than the fish bowls that come as standard.
