By starting in gear with the clutch in you are ensuring that the clutch plate is stationary . What's it like in between the other gears when you are moving? Also if you put it in any gear other than first before starting do you have the same effect? Suspect the pressure plate or the slave or master cylinder (for the latter check fluid levels too).
