2 Door rangie parts in UK

Hello from Down under in Australia,

I am just after some feedback on availability of used 2 door parts in the UK, here in Australia there are quite a few mid to late 70s vehicles which sell for not a lot of money.

Is it cost effective for someone to buy complete vehicles and ship them back to the UK?

Is there a need for parts, are there enough people restoring them or just need to keep them on the road?

Thanks,

Eric

Depends on cost of Range Rovers, condition, shipping cost for a container, collection from port and then storage in the UK.

Do you know how much a container from Australia to UK costs? You can not only fill the cars up with parts, but the container whence the said cars are ingressed.

There aren't a lot of early ones around, they range from 75 through 82 models.

I have seen the occasional 72 to 74 but they are rare.

What are the European ones like for rust, are they as bad as in the UK?

The way the Pound is at the moment compared to the Aus dollar, it's worth looking into at least.

Cheers,

Eric

As someone who's been amassing early 2 door parts for the last three years, and doing so from outside the UK, I'd welcome any options. From your point of view I'd expect it'd far more cost effective to break the vehicles there and ship separate parts as per demand. I bought a RH rear light lens from Australia last year because I couldn't find one anywhere else at the time. While I'm here, I could do with a good early bonnet (good as in exposed hinge, holes for mirrors and no rust)

FYI things like rear goal posts and doors are always snapped up in my experience. On the former, I had to take a grinder to a breakers yard to get one off a shell myself, and even then I'll have to do a little rust repair to one of the bottom legs when time comes to fit.

I've also got two sets of outer panels here, because even though I was very specific with the first seller that I wanted perfect items, they arrived with badly oxidised edges. The same happened with the second set, and in both cases because they'd shipped from the UK I was loathed to get into the hassle and expense of shipping them back. Not that I'd have been entertained anyway. So I don't have great faith that an unoxidised 2 door panel is easily got in the UK and I think I have only two options: 1. take the ferry and a trailer to one of the big annual LR jumbles/meets and hope I find what I need or 2. Use the panels I have to teach myself to weld Birmabright.

I am looking for a two door classic from 1988 to 1992. I am looking at the European market at the moment. The LHD's being sold here are going for silly money. So if someone from France,Germany of Spain wants to get in tough I am all ears.

Have a look at www.leboncoin.fr. You will need some basic french. Everything from a good deal to wildly optimist and everything in between. My three 2 door RRC have all come from there. Happy looking.

Thanks

I have been watching that for a while as well as Autoscout. Others would be useful.
