Tanuki
It depends: a friend had the BMW-derived autobox in their TD4 explode messily and given the age/mileage of the vehicle [2006, 130,000 miles] it was a real quandary as to whether to get a LR-warranted relpacement box or cash the dead hulk in as deposit on a 3-year lease on a new Freelander. tacr2man
Are you asking for Freelander 1 or 2 . The Freelander 1 autobox is a Jatco , and is usually very reliable and long lived , if you service and get the oil level right . HTSH
Oliver
Hi, Well, mine was completely rebuilt at 138000km. It has done 198000km now and seems ok. A few have gone bang here in NZ(usually behind the 2.5V6) but it is usually people NOT COMING TO A STOP before changing from D to R or the other way round.
