GBMUD
The pay and play site at Boxgrove (nr Chichester) is closing down after many years of offering P+P days and winch challenges/etc.. The last meeting will be this month, Sunday August 9th, after which the site will be landfilled. I have heard that it is planned that it be returned to a grass field so there is apparently no chance of it re-opening again. If you have never been, or if you have been putting it off, this will be your last chance! Details and enquiries at http://4x4driving.co.uk/owners_days.php - yes, I know the calendar there has future dates on, they are incorrect! Please share this with your friends, copy and paste it to other forums/FB groups/twitters etc... Slindon P+P is unaffected and, I understand, will now run twice a month. missingsid
Is this what was called Halnaker Pit or Halnaker Wood and used by AWDC etc? Marc
andyb
No Halnaker Pit is part of the Goodwood estate. It is very close by but not the same place. However, what that screenshot does not make clear is that the entry to Boxgrove is along the lane at the south east corner.
missingsid
Oh so this site is much bigger!
GBMUD
Correct AndyB. The correct entry point for Boxgrove is just off the lower right hand side of the picture, though a 4x4 can gain entry along the UCR 'Tinwood lane' off the A285, it is frowned upon - mainly by residents! missingsid
So went down today, mixed bag really, not supprising it has the same gound as Slindon which is fine but it did not suit a more road based vehicle. I think it depends upon the type of user, if they are challenge based vehicles then you sre talking Simex and once they have been through then the ruts are too deep for anything with 7:50 tyres. Problem today was add this to hard clay and my axles ground out and can't plow through. I did find some great narrow lanes in the middle though. I guess I need a site where there are more road based vehicles. I hope this does not mean my motor is no good anymore!! Still a shame it is gone now! Thanks for brining it to our attention so I could try it before it closed. Marc
