Dead freelander 2 auto, how to get it out of "park"?

Is there nothing in the owner's manual about this?

Just took a look at the online one, all I can find is:

Do not tow the vehicle if the gearbox
cannot be set in neutral.

That could indicate that there is no provision for getting it out of park. Very strange.

I don't have a workshop manual for the FL2, so can't really say much more...

Put a jump pack or leads on it, or just charge the battery - after all the first thing the auto electrician is going to do is to charge/replace the battery...

There is an inhibitor solenoid on the shifter as part of the cars security system.

Its on it third battery, 2nd alternator and second starter motor in 2 months. Our local Land rover specialist have been taking my 84 year old Granddad for a right ride!!

Managed to find the bit you have to poke to be able to shift to neutral.

Now at an auto electricians.

If it has battery power you should be able to mive it out of Park but I assume the system is similar to the D3/RRS where it does not work without power and there is nothing in the workshop manual/handbook to explain how to move it.

If it is like the RRS you will need to pull the top centre console off and near the gear lever there is a white knob to will allow the lever to move out of park - this is not in the RRS handbook but then off course the FL2 may be completely different.
