Hi all! ,

I have just bought a freelander 1 to go off roading with but its only two wheel drive and needs a new transfer box am i better to stay with the two ratio one and get it recondintioned or to get a 3 ratio one? also i need to get a a prop shaft and vcu on it but is there a cheap way of doing that as the vcu is bloody expensive! lol or is there any good freelander or landy specialist to get some of the parts i need?

Welcome!

Bell engineering sell VCU's, failing that if you are ONLY offroading it you could pick up a seized one 2nd hand for cheap and only fit it when you're off-road.

I've never heard of 2 speed transfer boxes for freelanders, let alone 3 speed ones, can you explain what you're on about there?

...but before spending all that money, what makes you think it needs a new transfer box anyway? Freelanders suffer a lot of mis-diagnosis and superstition.
