freebiker
Hi all, I wonder if someone could help me with my 1998 diesel Freelander, had her for 2 years with very few problems, but while driving home last week she suddenly lost power, she now won't go above 50mph, I changed the fuel pump so for but still has a lack of power, the engine sounds fine and she starts ok too, I'd apreciate any help. garrycol
Is the check engine light on?? When it goes into limp mode you will have restricted power, usually because of a dud sensor - get your codes read and it will most likely tell you what the issue is. You say that you changed the fuel pump - that can only be the injection pump on the engine as the L series does not have a lift pump in the tank - that would have been an expensive exercise so what made you do that??? Did you time the injection pump correctly and set the drive belt up correctly? If the pump is not timed correctly, the engine will not develop full power.
