Side Light Short Circuit (in case it helps anyone)

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure why something has to go wrong just before booking an MOT but this time there was a short in the nearside side light circuit.

Luckily, before trying to trace the loom, I checked the simple things first and found that one of the numberplate light contacts had bent upwards and was touching the case of the light bulb. There was no reason to suspect a fault here but seemed worth checking as it involved one screw.

I'm not sure how it became bent (ok, it is a cheap replacement) but after bending back into position all is well the the side lights again.

Just thought it is worth mentioning in case anyone else is has a similar problem. Vehicle is an early 90.
