I have got an early SII V8 discovery with a (very) broken R380 box (suffix L I believe), the question is will a SI V8 R380 be a suitable substitute? I know the bell housing is physically different, but I can swap these over, whats more important is input shaft length etc.
Can anyone shed some light?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Dave

are you sure the bellhousings are different? just that I thought all the V8s use basically the same block so you might even find it goes straight on...

I've seen a SI box on fleabay that has definately got a different bellhousing to the one off my SII, but the rest of it looks to be the same.
