help with td5 wipers

preping the truck for mot- have a small issue with the wipers...the drivers side works fine no problem- nice sweep etc, however the pass side doesnt do much- it moves about an inch and then back this is accompanied by a clicking noise! If the wiper is pulled forward off the screen as if your washing it- it works fine. Obviously an issue with a gear when load is put on it. Any pointers?

Isn't there an "adapter" that sits between the wiper arm and the axle? There is on my 1986. Tighteneing the grub screw on its side might help.

(1997 Disco V8 ES) replaced by a Skoda...

i will have a look for the adapter and see if that is all that is required...lets hope so! failing that i guess its take the motor out and replace the wheelbox?
