In my experience they'd fine you for being British if they could!
GBMUD
Si, I am away to France on Saturday! Only passing through though. James, I have. Fortunately for me there was a lippy Algerian lad there too and in light of this fact the copper (police chief as it turned out!) took a shine to me instead. HoSS
FYI - they wont actually start fining people until December (its a standard 6 month grace). I live 1km from the French border, and cross it on a daily basis. Personnaly i'm considering not carrying the breatalyser, just taking the 11 Euro fine. It will probably be cheaper in the end. Anyway i just dont get the point of this... Are the garlic rozzers seroiusly going to ask you to use your unit rather than theirs in some cost cutting measure? Theres been a whole rash of stupid new laws in France in the last few years.. First carrying of the hi-vis (in the cabin, not the boot - yes i know who've been fined that way), then requiring hi-vis on motorcylces at all times despite the fact that my jacket has nice reflective bits built in which are duly covered up by the flapping & dangerous hi-vis. I'm also a diver, and you shouldnt start me on what they've done regarding diving.... p.s if anyone does need some of these things before travelling i could arrange to send some over.
