skauldy
Stripped my 4.6 head yesterday and all the intake valves had a build up of carbon on them and also the inlet ports. You would mistake them for exhaust valves and ports. The heads were ran on carbs originally. Any idea why the valves would be like this
Boydie
Over fueling ----, petrol is hitting the valve face, evaporating, leaving residue and causing the valve to collect exsessive carbon, the correct ratio of petrol to air is 14.5 parts of air to 1 part fuel - 95 octane - I would advise you take it to a reputable engine tuner and have the engine put on a dynomometer and have the carbs/injectors adjusted correctly. The end result will be improved performaance as well as reduced fuel consumption.
skauldy
Ah that makes sense, I'm converting it to fuel injection plus MS so should be ok, just wondering why they were so bad. Thanks Boydie
