nico3dd
hello there, im new at this. ill inroduce myself. I own a defender which i love more than anyhing. In the last few days i.ve noticed a weird noise coming from trasmission, so i decided to service it. I began with the transferbox.I managed to get the output and input shafts out of the casing and all of the casing covers. So when everything else was out of the casing, the intermediate shaft was not. it has a great axial movement and the nut that im supoused to loose to get the shaft out, is freely spinning together with the shaft. In other words i have no clue how to get this nut out. (the washer thread is still fitted so the washer is tighten) please some help needed
reb78
Doesnt the intermediate shaft have an allen or torx head on the other end to the stake nut?
vulcan bomber
IIRC theres a flat on the end of the shaft to accept a washer with a D shaped hole in it to stop any rotation it lives under the stake nut.
robertspark
There is a locking type washer on the intermediate shaft that has a D shaped sort of hole in it that aligns with a flat on the intermediate shaft (as vulcan bomber said)
