Hi,

Garage is beaten by this one, and i dont have much clue on electrics.

2003 td5 defender.

trailer electrics light stays on pretty much always. comes on as soon as you indicate either side and then doesnt go off until ignition off,

tried new flasher relay - no differnence

new indicator switch unit as a little bit of damage at plug for it found - no differnce

unplug tow socket (genuine part) all pins lovely and clean - no difference

if you just put ignition on fully, or start car and drive but dont indicate its fine.

even sitting in drive with ignition fully on, soon as you touch indicator switch its on and stays on.

so i am lost for ideas, and mot is up soon.

ignition is a little worn, can take key out when running easily.

wondering if anyone has seen this before?

I had the same problem with my 1984 Land Rover 90 I tried disconnecting the trailer light plug to no avail, I only got rid of the problem when I fitted LED indicators, then I discovered the flasher unit was wet and corroded also I had earth problems so I would think that you may have an earth problem as you have already changed the flasher unit, the other thing that can affect the indicators is the hazard switch.

checked switch and theres a bulb, now no guarantee bulb is ok so not sure there. trailer green doesnt flash with hazards on.

been round indicators today and all connectors are nice and clean, nothing green/nasty looking but gave all a hose of contact cleaner just in case.
