Tiger
Are there any gotchas when doing this? (I know I'll need to swap speedo drive as D2 doesn't have one) Anybody done and can offer sage advice before I have a go this weekend. Assume I'll need a gasket set at the very least? Thanks in advance
ejparrott
If you don't strip the box you shouldn't need a gasket set, it should slot straight onto the gearbox output shaft as is
Bowie69
Get 3 M10 bolts, long as you can, cut the heads off, and put a slot in the end, screw these into the back of the gearbox before refitting the transfer box, they guide the box into place without wrecking the oil seal, and also helps take the massive weight at an awkward spot! After secured by another couple of bolts, unscrew your home made studs and store for next time
Bowie69
In fact, found a blog mentioning it, I've done it, and it does work: https://lifeattheendoftheroad.wordpress.com/tag/lt230-transfer-box/

V8 Freak
I use the M10 bolt trick as well.. Good for helping remove and replace transfer boxes.. Works on Gearboxes too !! I only use 2 bolts / studs but same principle.... While it's out, might as well change the transfer box input seal...
