landroversforever
RD56 is a 24 spline locker. Hydrid_from_Hell is our resident diff man.

Dave W
Admittedly it's a few years ago now, so things may have changed, but when I looked into converting my 10 spline ARBs to 24 spline it was going to cost about £120 each to convert. It was cheaper to buy two new ARBs and sell on the 10 spline versions. These days I'd look at selling the ARBs and buying new Ashcroft lockers rather than trying to convert the ARBs.
Hybrid_From_Hell
^^^Wot Dave said...and pretty much exactly ! Ring me by all means to chat maybe P/Exing them to me ? 0787 908 2490 You can't buy the locking gear on its own, its now a gearset p/n : 728B061 @ £266+VAT for EACH diff ...DON'T DO IT ! daveturnbull
Hmmm.... I could be in the market for a 10 spline ARB if its cheap enough. Not ever intending on abusing the hell out of it like some of you do, just for that extra little bit of traction when wheels are in the air. Already got a compressor + wiring. Hybrid_From_Hell
10 spline are getting rarer. No new 20 spline lockers available and many that are offerred sh are snagged. ... It's why az and when I get offered then I buy them. ...but they often need end flanges cages and lots of loving lol
steve200TDi
Sorry to hi jack the thread, bu t I have a question about the RD56. How does the plastic cage come out when you strip a locker down completely? Should it just fall out? Or is it held in by a secret clip?? As I can't get my cage out and I don't particularly want to break it as it is plastic! Steve
Off Road Toad
You have to rotate it before pulling it out. I can't remember which way off the top of my head but they are VERY fragile! And technically they're made from Nylon ;-) Steve :-)
