Mar 18 2008, 07:59 PM
Hi Alan,
Not sure what sites are being used this year but if its Tixover/Yarwell/Castle Rock they are all fairly close together , Castle Rock is only about a mile from the Castle Inn. the other two are about 8-10 miles. If the brickworks is in the mix its about 20 miles ish...
See you there , I'll be watching/taking photo's

We've just got a few bits to do and then we'll be about ready.
no idea what sites are being used this year, but isn't that half the fun?

Hi Rhys,
Not sure about venues , but one or two said on Santas that it may be last time at the brickworks , it would be a shame as it's a good site.....but then anywhere we can get happy access

to is good. I recall another venue just NW ? of Tixover - Stebbington? maybe, didn't get a chance to look on Santas as I was marshalling the Tixover SS.
Are you going to be there?

Yeah Stebbington sounds familiar. No, unfortunatly I proberly won't be there. Got things to do on mine own truck so I can go out and have a play

Still to update you on what we was talking about at the mission 4x4 challenge, my super swampers are on there way from Califonia, should be hear in 2 weeks. Still need to fit my arch extensions and paint my beadlock wheels. This weekend I am going three holes with my dads bf muds, so at least I get a run in it

Oh, and just fitted some janspeed tubular manifolds, sounds great

Anyway, back to topic..................

As Adrian says "We'll be there"
Lot of foreign teams this year which is always good.
Alan, Road milages are quite heavy. Expect 20/30 min (At worst 40) drive between sites with most of the raods being A roads so speeds of up to 70mph.
You can trailer between sites if required (don't bother

)
Hope i get Tixover last, i absoulutely HATE that God awful, sh8t hole of a place............Truely awful site
As for the rest of it, can not wait
Will be in the Castle inn Rockingham Thursday night for drinks

As Nick said that was us, the Boggers are so much better and they look really good compared to a 10.5" wide simex. Should be a good laugh hope the car dont let us down

Is anyone using your challenge truck while you guide Jim

So how bent is Alan's truck, it must have been quite a roll to break a few ribs!

Many thanks to Daan for pulling us back on to the wheels. Awesome winch on that truck and we learned a lot following him on Saturday in the woods.
Following the roll, I think the chassis is twisted, the trayback is very bent on one side and the roof is a bit worse for wear. The roll cage did its job though. As it rolled over the front end, it landed on the corner of the roof over my head and then on its side.
The doctor says I have several broken ribs, two of which click as they rub over each other

. We did a few more punches after the roll and intended to compete on Sunday but the starter motor was dead. Fi said someone was trying to tell me something and I think she was right. After walking around on Sunday, I was suddenly in agony and could barely walk. Serious pain killers have kicked in now so I am a bit happier.
Loved the event once we sussed out the various formats. Will definately be back next year to see if we can split those 8274's up with a hydro winch. Thank for co driving Mark, give up the fags and get on a treadmill with a ground anchor over your shoulder

. I will make sure I have some proper fair leads for the next event

Congratulations to all of you that completed, I saw alot of breakages over the three days & just as many people under there trucks fixing things as I did see them driving.
There were alot of winch ropes being repaired over the weekend and it was unfortunate Alan's snapped with such bad timing. Hope you & your truck make a speedy recovery
Despite the fact that when ever I wasnt legging it round with a lump hammer & staple gun trying to keep the stages up in the weather I was absolutly freezing cold it was still a wicked weekend thanks to some super cool driving, some slightly mad driving and those of you that where in no particular hurry, stopping to watch others, entertain & nick my skittles!
