Will find flaws in fibreglass but the penetrant does not evaporate and will take some washing off. The developer however is chalk suspended in a propellant that will evaporate.

On most (clean) metal surfaces, you can see the dye without the developer. The dye gets everywhere - if you're not careful you'll look like an extra from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre!
