Is anyone going to Beauleigh?

We've booked a stand - and although I agree that nothing will replace Sodbury as it was, I think this has the best chance.

I know a lot of the same traders who supported Sodbury have booked for this too. The general consensus from the trade seems to be to back this one.

I know the location isn't great for anyone north of the south - but at least Beauleigh itself is nice - and there is other stuff for wives & families to do other than look at oily old series bits!

Capel could be brilliant - if only they advertised it a bit. I only live 5 miles away - and still don't know for certain what day it's on. June 1st is what the rumors say - but I've not seen anything definite. Tried to book a trade stand - but the phone number I had from last year was unobtainable!

I'm stuck between family doo as my sister is moving to the US for work for a few years and the family want me to go with them but I'm keener to go to the show at BEAULIEU as a seller.

its only £10 more as a seller than sodbury

There is a sign up on the fence on the A24 at capel - so far I havn't been past slow enough to read what it says yet.... dry.gif

It is also always advertised at dunsfold DLR, so giving them a ring might net you a phone number...

I do still plan to go down to beulieu on sunday for a mooch around as a buyer though.

Myself and a mate will be their, £8 as a buyer, about time I entered the new century and got a plasma rope and hopefully a fuel tank for the disco so I can get a rear winch in.

Shires will be there on Sunday smile.gif We've only got a tiny little stand, but as it's in Hampshire it would be rude not too.
daveturnbull
SCOR will have a stand on both days so I am told.

I don't want to be a picky git but can someone change the title to "Beaulieu" unsure.gif

And I probably won't be going sad.gif although if Les of Hensonshire is there I need to pick up a parts washer from him, or arrange a forum relay at least.
Hybrid_From_Hell
"Pedantic" may be the word one's struggling for tongue.gif far better than "Picky" rofl.gif

"Picky" would indicate choices, or a wish for one choice over another less perfect choice,
whereas "Pedantic" tends to indicate someone with far too much F time on their hands,

so what u doin here "Your Pedantic-ness" ?

Haven't you a 'WBBSC Appointment' somewhere ? laugh.gif

Hi mate, if you want and Les is there I can pick it up for you, I roughly know where you are, just after the flooding bit if I remember rightly.

Nige - actually it's punctillious ph34r.gif

Bill - That'd be cool, I'll PM Les and see if he's attending. Thanks!

Well, I thought Beaulieu was pretty good. Although it was much smaller than Newbury and the luke warm response it received in some quarters, it had much more of the atmosphere of the original Sodbury when it was on their farm. Very friendly and actually more fun than Newbury.

We took about 2/3 as much as at the last Newbury - so the size didn't have that big an impact. A lot of people commented that it was better being able to have a close look at every stand rather than just a cursory glance.

About five people asked me if I'd seen Les Henson for some reason - Probably after him for all those quality <dodgy> car repairs! wink.gif

Nice to see Jen, Dan and the other Shire members, several (well, two) D-Lander owners, Smo - and the numerous other forum members.

I'll definitely book up for next year!

I went and actually found it very disappointing. Way too much rusty stuff and X-eng and Goodwinch seemed to be the only ones selling anything new.
simonr
I always used to go to Sodbury for the oily, rusty bits that were too horrible or unusual for people to bother listing on eBay! I've always been surprised how well we have done at Sodbury - so I guess I'm in a minority!

The only thing I hoped to find was a part worn set of Simex - but it wasn't to be. All the tyres I could find were fully worn or suitable for minis!

Well enough to book for next year. People were so negative prior to the event, I wasn't expecting much - but was pleasantly surprised. Even better for having a nice coffee stall next door!

Capel should be good too. We're not going to be selling there - though if anyone wants anything delivering, just let me know.

I can't believe I've screwed up and booked to go away the same weekend as Capel... I REALLY wanted to go this year aswell... sad.gif mad.gif

Might be able to source some Simex for Capel - what size and type you looking for Simon ?

Well I got a few bits and pieces, not even half my list - but sometimes even the biggest Sodbury can go like that so I'm not complaining. We walked around the whole of the LR Autojumble in about an hour, but didn't make it round the whole of the rest of the show. It was nice to see some other interesting vehicles, although the classic car market can be even scarier than the LR market - some of the prices are huge... I'll stick to my rusty old IIA smile.gif

It was a shame that the clubs weren't all put in the LR field. It seemed as though they were trying to 'join up' the shows by putting some LR stalls in the motormart field but visibile from the Sodbury one - but it just resulted in Wessex and Shires getting a bit lost amougst the bits of Jag/Mini etc.

Good to meet up with a few of the usual suspects and even nicer to have to make 3x trips to XEng to try and catch them when they didn't have a huge queue cool.gif

Beaulieu's a beautiful setting and it was nice wandering around the autojumble, hopefully it'll only get bigger.

i was there too.
was a good day i thought. nice to see you again si wink.gif
