I am in the process of sorting out some camping facilities for the Saturday night near to the Dunchideock site if anyone needs it? I will be competing in James' event and then heading down to the camp for anyone that wants to follow me- I will also be sorting some maps as well for those who are navigationally challenged!

Cheap camping near to the Dunchideock site (less than 10 minutes away) has now been sorted for anyone interested in heading down the night before the event. There will be fresh water (in carriers), firewood, toilet facilities but no showers provided. BBQs etc no problem. Parking for lorries/ trailers etc. is also no problem.
PM me if interested.

Yes Mike spectators are welcome to come along and watch.
You can even join in the camping fun the previous night if you want.
And going on last weekends preformance by club members at the CSW Club stand and D4x4's marquay should be a cracking nights entertainment too.
Just bring some ear plugs if you don't enjoy certain members impressions of a heard of rhino's at night

Damn right- a herd of rhino would be much quieter!
Does this mean I need to get drunk and cook fried food again then... Cool!!!

Hi, coming along to watch on sunday, had a look at the CSW page & directions vague to say the least "dunchideock exeter". Will directions be marked up from the A38. Any chance of a grid ref?
Many thanks Adrian

theres a grid on the devon site or download the entry form theres a grid on that as well.

upnover4X4- Head up the A38 towards Exeter and take the exit at the top of Haldon- opposite the racecourse and just after the garage and little chef- signposted to Dunchideock and Doddiscombeleigh. Turn left at the T junction and follow the road. When you get to Lawrence Castle (Haldon Belvedere) turn hard left and follow the road- will be signed from there.
Look forward to seeing some of you there- still room for some more competitors and spectators alike!

Well, just got back from what I was going to be a nice day out!!! The coordinates listed on the CSW page were incorrect for the event venue. Found a location just outside Dunchideock which ressembled an old Quarry workings Grid ref # SX875870, as detailed on the event joining instructions.
My intention today was to spectate with the view to competing in the series but disappointgly didnt get there. Would there be any chance for future envents that the correct location be listed for newcomers.
Regards Adrian

What a good day out. it was nice to be driving for the first time (ever?) in the long time, convinced my brother in law to codrive for me. Last time he was out the trcuk had 7.50ZXLs and an XD9000i (and no that wasnt the last time i competed!) so he had a few things to catch up with.
Had a great day, really enjoyed it, A big thanks to Frank for setting everything up and to all the Marshalls (Simon, Lynn, Ian, Richard) for your guidance on the day a good little site down there, but i wouldn't like it in the wet.
On a different note Upnover, i too noticed the grid was wrong and queried this on arrival, its due to the guy who does the website being away and there was a change of venue to they couldnt change it. However Shrek did post this for you:

We followed that and got there. i am suprised you didnt see the signs for CSW but it would depend which way you approached from. Your point is valid.

Unfortunately we came from the A30 direction & didnt see any signs, Never mind theres always next time. Didnt get the the forum posting prior to leaving & had I realised there was & change in venue things prob would have been different.
In honesty not that bothered was just a bit of a trek up from cornwall to a wrongly identified location. Was a last minute thought about going up & now with hind sight will verify the next venue which hopefully well compete in.
See you all next time hopefully

Adrian- sorry I can only apologise on behalf of the club for your wasted trip- the venue did indeed change fairly late on (as does happen occasionally for reasons entirely beyond our control) and I had thought that everything that could have been done to inform people of the change had been done- obviously it wasn't... sorry! The event was signed from the A38 in both directions... very difficult to cover all possible routes.
Hopefully everyone that found us had a good day on a good site- I have to say that I am glad it was as dry as it was for the event as clearing up in the rain after it was evident that sections that had been easily drivable in the day quickly became claggy mudpits that would have swallowed most of the competitiors... Frank does do quite a good line in skiing down mud banks though!!

Getting the burger van out was also a bit 'interesting' and involved the use of a landrover a suzuki and a shovel...long story!
If anyone didn't manage to work out the location of the extra punch... (No James not C2!- ask Ian about that one when you see him!)) The cryptic clue was 'TO BE BLUNT. RETARDED PUGALISTS EQUIPMENT'... Nope I had no idea what this meant either... the answer was....
In the glove box of Franks truck!- The explanation... Pugalist=Boxer. Boxers equipment = Boxing Gloves- Retarded boxing gloves= gloves boxing... Glove box! To be blunt= To be Frank... Franks Glove Box... Nope I am still confused!!!- Well done to the two teams that cracked it!
It was unfortunate that there were not too many teams there to take advantage of what was an excellent challenge event- hopefully the scores and some photos will be apprearing on the
CSW website soon.
Next CSW event is Week Farm, Torrington on the 6th of July- entry forms already on the website for pre-entry.
