I need to find somebody to weld up an aluminium bracket on a wheelchair in the Yorkshire/North Lincolnshire area.

A friend asked me for help this afternoon, his daughter's wheelchair has cracked one of the X member brackets. Thought it'd be easy but when I looked closer it's aluminium. My alloy welding is very 'hit and miss' and I don't feel confident enough to do a good job.

The wheelchair's Spanish made and spares will take time to arrive so we need to do something, even if it's just a temporary fix. I'm not going to let this go, even if it means fabricating the whole piece from steel (Sue is stuck without her wheels) but as first option does anybody know of somewhere we could get this welded please?

Cheers

ask on www.mig-welding.co.uk, there's a few members around that area i think.

Sounds like a few minutes with a grinder and a tig should have it sorted?

Near you ..... There is a company called SPS which is Steve Or maybe Stephen pope and sons. Steve runs a welding firm and does a lot of welding for dairys and such like.
It sound like one of them jobs that will take him about 20 seconds. If i still had his mobile number i'd ring him un ask him for ya but i cleared my phone out when i moved away.
Worth trying to get hold of him though if you end up getting stuck.
There is a large dairy at stourton in leeds .. being careful not to say the name.. They will most likely know how to get hold of him.
