Apparently Tis an art form, similar to 'Putting a Thong' on a Zoos Male Gorilla, but slighly more effort

I have been in the same situation, the instructions are a waste of time.

It aint easy and you must get the two little flaps in line for them to work properly, otherwise you will not be able to let the tyre down without letting the locker down first.

Plus you need to drill the rim which isnt to bad.

Believe me, if you can find someone else to do it, let em. Takes the skin of the back of your fingers.

are staun beadlocks very strong/thick, because what do you do if you get a 6 inch nail through your tyre, does it puncture your beadlock?

do you need to buy a new one or repair?

I would disagree with this statement; If you can fit them yourself, at least you know you can sort out a problem in the field with them. you never know if your helply friend is around when your in trouble.

I have tried fitting them, succeeded with one after a very long time, and decided against using them myself for reasons of practicality.

They are quite robust, the beadlocker is more or less a canvas type case which is held in position with an inner tube. Obviously the inner tube could be patched or replaced, not sure about the locker itself though. Depends how badly it got damaged.

It would have to be a big nail to do such damage unless it went it through the side wall in which case you would probably need to repair the tyre as well.

Its feasable you can punture the tyre yet still drive on the locker, off road of course, not down the M6.

I'd always thought the lockercover was made from Kevlar, which is very strong and resists stretching.
Sorry I have nothing else positive to say about them. Each kit comes complete with a family of demons IMO.

Given the choice of fitting a Staun or 2 hours around Tesco's followed by a Matalans "I'm just looking" expedition,
I'm afraid it's "which one do you want go to first dearest"

I did five single handed in an afternoon onto Mach5's you've got my best wishes.

The video is pretty helpful although like all good TV does make it look easier.

The new pattern ones with the tyre valve on a separate piece are much easier.

We did 5 37x12.5 Krawlers onto 17" rims at about 20 minutes each.

No demons were harmed in the fitting!
