I've got a 3.5 v8 running on twin SU's in my Not owned it for long, and so not really run it. However, when I have done despite holding good oil pressure it sounds very 'lumpy' and almost as if its missing, therefore any tips on investigation / diagnosis?

Was thinking of checking all leads, dizzy and coil tomorrow to see if anything obvious is adfrift, could it be that the carbs are out of balance unsure.gif ??? I know the previous owner fitted a new dizzy cap and leads after he killed the last one doing the Eastnor Castle mud run in the truck this year.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! (apart from throw it away and fit a diesel!! laugh.gif blink.gif tongue.gif !)

Thanks in advance.

Did he fit 100% gen parts ignition bits? If not, that's probably it.

Hello.
Go through the routine method of checking each spark plug. My V8 struggle after having engine running for half an hour on idle for it mot test. As a result coked up the plugs. Make sure All the breathers are clean two over the rocker covers and pipes connecting. Mine used to fill up with a white oily gunge. Hope this helps

All the plugs and leads seem fine, breathers clear.

Having just been out in it, under acceleration / load it pulls like a train and roars like it should do through 4 branch stanless headers, but at low revs it just seems to run lumpy and airey, does that make any sense!??? blink.gif

Check Fuel lines into the carbs for any breaks or leaks. Is the Accelerater link cable snagging. Does it struggle on idle revs if so jets need a clean. Check mixture on idle the adjuster screws on each carb mine are alway loosening. When have you had the lr serviced. Alot of little niggles can upset the v8. I know mine was a pain in the perverbals banned.gif Even on lpg rofl.gif . But still There is only two areas to keep an eye on the v8 beast blush.gif Electrics glare.gif and counting pennies Fuel blink.gif Hope this helps.
