ive decided to learn to fix any problems myself .
my 1st project under the watchful eye of a mate who knows his stuff is to change the UJs on my defender csw 1990.
in fact it was while i was looking for a good step by step for this job that i decovered this forum.
so where did Les Henson get those gkn UJs?

most likely from the Bearmach outlet in Swindon, any good LR parts independent should be able to supply them.

Your best bet for suppliers is to go and buy a lro/landrover enthusiast/lrm magazine. There are any number of advertisers for parts, a bit of discretion is need to make sure you get decent quality parts though.

where are you? - someone may have a local supplier to recommend.

You have two possible options, find a local independent and use them for parts and advice, or go mail order with people like paddocks, mm4x4, craddocks etc - or obviously a combination of the two smile.gif

without sounding snobbish i only wanna use the best for this vehicle.
not because i can afford to but because i cant afford not to. im gonna use it for long journeys in the school holidays to take my son and wife on trips all over europe and i want it to be reliable.
im sure i read in the step by step guide that there are some really cheap and shabby parts around so i wanna be sure .
another thing is that im absolutly new to diesel engines and land rovers too, so i feel like i can be easily misled.
im in germany and most of my ordering will be over the phone and so i wanna be armed with the best info i can lay my hands on when buying bits and pieces.
thanx you lot

the suppliers mentioned don't sell rubbish, a lot of people say aviod britpart but I've not had any problem with their stuff.

allmakes is a seem to be a good supplier of original equipment parts but to trade only.

Dunsfold Landrovers are normally good suppliers of most parts or can advise just depends on who you talk to there, or mail order 4x4 have been quite good in the past

Like many of us, then.

It's worth learning the difference between LR, OEM and pattern parts, as well as when those differences count.

I wouldn't assume that there's always benefit to buying something in a LR box, and likewise there are plenty of suitable alternative supplier parts out there.
