hi my 1996 300 tdi disco has started to develop a rumble noise from the cooling fan bearing .Ive dropped the fan and serpentine belt off.
Found some play in pulley and roughness when i spin pulley.Is the bearing replaceable and do i have to remove the timing belt cover to do so.

The bearing is not officially replaceable, you are supposed to replace the timing case. I do know of one person who replaced the bearing with another but he was an engineer with all the equipment. Someone on this forum was supposed to be finding out if the bearings were available and so on.

I am trying to source a replacement bearing but have so far had not much success, and have been a little busy with other things recently so the project has been put on a back burner for the moment.
