I'm after the width of a Rover coil axle between the wheel mounting faces - ie what's the distance between where the wheels mount.

I tried a quick search but came up with nothing. As I've not got any Rover axles left lying around I've got nothing to measure sad.gif

TIA

If you can wait until this evening I'll have a measure up.

Hi Bill,
I think that they are 1550mm face to face but my measuring was a bit rough.
I have seen the Track as 1480 or 1486 and an offset for RoStyles as 33mm each which gave a measurement of either 1546mm or 1552mm so not so far out.

I await your outcome with interest.
Marc.

marc got there first. Where is the delete reply function?

Sorry,
But don't delete your entry as it may support mine or show I'm wrong?

In that case it was pretty much the same as your third line quoting the 1970 to 1985 RRC workshop maual (nearest official publication I had to hand). The only diferenance being I made a boo boo and subtracted the 33mm form each side when it should have been added wacko.gif

Thanks guys - after trawling through the internet I calculated the width at 1580mm from the track and wheel offset (from a differant location) so didn't really trust it!

Hi,
Are you Bill or Will?
Yesterday I called you Bill and now I am not sure?

Anyway I spen ages yesterday trying to fiind the offset for RoStyle RRC steel wheels, I don't suppose that you have a value do you?

Cheers,
Marc.

I'm still wondering why you need to know, given that you're not running standard wheels or axles huh.gif or anything else for that matter.

Thanks goodness you are better at Google than I am at remembering.....sorry Will I forgot. sad.gif

i recall coming across the figure of 61", which seems to go with what's above. unfortunately i was looking for 60 series widths at the time so i can't be 100% sure whether i have quoted the land rover width or the toyota one. i think that's the land rover one though.

laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif A variety of reasons mostly down to the fact the build is piled up in a small corner of a barn being stored for the next 4-6 weeks.

Andy, I didn't spot the 'Bill' - it's normally Will. As far as Rostyle's go, I haven't seen any offset figures in my searches.

Just checked against the post 1985 workshop manual and that on lists both 6.00 JK x 16 steels and 7.00 J x16 alloys with only one track width.

I had a measure of a front axle on the floor of the workshop last night. Still had the brake disc on so that made measuring a little more tricky. But I get ~1540mm, certainly not as much as 1550mm.

Hope that helps. If you need 'spot on' then I can do a better job at the weekend.

Thanks Andy, spot on isn't necessary

Andy,
As this is relevant to my build and I would dearly like this to be the case as I it would really help my project, unless we are talking different axles this is my findings but more accurately measured.

I went and measured my spare RRC axle today and from the outside of one disc to the outsaide of the other is 1375mm.
The outside of the disc to the the wheel mounting face is 90mm.
So the actual wheel face to wheel face is:

90+1375+90 which equals 1555mm, unfortunately for me even wider that I thought ohmy.gif

@Marc. I can do the same measurements as you did if you like. I was pretty much just eye balling it (and reaching over other stuff smile.gif ) to get a ball park figure for Will.
andyb
OK Marc, I did similar measuring today and came up with 1550mm. I was on my own so we could put the +-5mm error to that.
