Been chasing out plaster this afternoon with the club and various chisels................... my knuckel is going to be brused tomorrow

Excuse if this is common knowledge but when I was taught to use a hammer and chissel we where shown how to keep the thumb tight to the fingers and wrap the whole hand arround the chissel. Not fingers one side and thumb the other which is more natural and leaves the thumb knuckle VERY exposed.

Bit like keeping your thumbs out of the steering wheel.

Hope that makes sense.

To add to Trev's point - wear a glove on the hand you are holding the chisel with!! It might still hurt a bit, but you are less likely to remove the skin that's holding everything in!!
