I've got a '96 comercial Disco that I have had from new. I had a Warwick Banks handling and performance package fitted in 99.

It's been sat for 18 months with a cracked transfer box which i have finally got motivated to change.

The main problem is I'm bored with it, to be honest I never really liked it, wish I'd bought another Defender instead.

So choices are to:

Get an MOT and sell it, buy a Defender. Trouble is I know their not worth much and I still haven't recovered from the £17.5k I paid for it new. It has been very reliable and other than the transfer box nothing significant has gone wrong in 130000 miles. I've spent less than £500 on non wearing parts since new.

Second choice is to try and make it a bit more interesting. I have in mind to king cab it, stretch it and fit a hicap back, drab green paint with everything else black. Question: does a Rangy roof fit as this would make the job a lot easier and i don't like the stepped roof.

Any thoughts? Deep down I know I shouldn't be allowed to cut it up so if anyone is interested in buying it or swopping for a Defender or hybrid let me know. It's rated at 150hp without an uprated intercooler so it could be made even quicker for minimum cost.

I was inspired by The Paint Mans stretched Rangy, if you have seen it. I saw it a Billing last year.

A bit rough and ready but looked ok painted I thought.

Steve,

My dad is just about to put the front end and cabin of an LSE onto a Quadtec bodied 127 so what you propose sounds quite feasable.
