Well, seeing as I now have to get my FIP looked at, it's time for it to come off.
I seem to remember that someone on here a short while back was attempting to remove the FIP while leaving the pulley and timing belt in place? Is this possible? Could someone point me to the thread?
Otherwise I'll just go the normal route if taking the belt off first.
ta muchly.

simple
If I ever do this again
I'll just do the timing belt at the same time, trying to keep the pulleys in place, even with the correct kit is not the best.
you have to pin the pump/flywheel then undo all the FIP connections
then the pulley, this means removing the pump pin at this point mine went to pot and I just stripped it all out.
Tip though undo the cranknut before you commence the dismantling.

If you have the necessary special tools to do it that way, then ok. Personally I wouldn't take the chance. One tooth out and you will end-up stripping it down anyway.
Tony Cordell posted a while ago about this very subject.

ok thanks guys. Think I'll just strip it.
Don't fancy trying to undo the crank nut half way though if it all goes pear shaped
