i want to make up a tube bender and a bearing/bush press out of one unit. Which is the best way to start?

Buy a press and adapt to bend tube (is the ram length long enough)

or

buy a tube bender and adapt to a press?

either way i am getting replacement tube dies anyhow. either machines will be based on a machinemart/sealey type product.

Sorry Gav - been a bit of a busy weekend, here you go

baby press, pushes 20 tonnes, sits bearings and bushes, bends smaller bits and bobs smile.gif

That looks like an ideal size to keep in a support truck. wink.gif

Not very clear in the picture, but I assume it has a 'gap' in the top so that you could slide a driveshaft in etc?

no gap at the top - they are just strengthing ribs, we've made a whole heap of press tooling to go in baby press, multi V working with a short press blade or gooseneck, upteen bush drifts and seats and a variety of squashing dies etc

for little jobs and shoving in the back of a tech truck its proved to be really handy - nothing for our cars can have just one function so it also comes in handy as a jack laugh.gif

Looks awesome Jez - any chance of a bit more of a description as to how it bends toob? And are they commercially available mandrels or home made?

TIA
dollythelw
all home made Si, the tube bending on baby press is limited to 25 degrees but for what its designed for it does it pretty well smile.gif
