  1. No but there's a lot of places between here and there, and that how it's stored will impact on it I'd have thought.
  2. I was reading LRM earlier and in it is the article about the millionth Discovery and support vehicles (and a S1 for some of the distance) going on the big journey over to Beijing. I saw it was mentioned in the article that all vehicles were built to Russian spec (to eventually be sold out there), but more importantly they are all petrols (5.0 litre ones in fact!) because the Diesel Particulate Filters as req. in the UK/EU would basically go kaput when the engine would be run on not-fantastic quality fuels? Does this suggest that in the nearish future it'll become a lot more difficult for people to go travelling by overland unless they start outside the UK/EU, or build a vehicle on an old identity? Or use petrol even???
  3. Agreed. Mine has taken some heavy blows and shrugged them off no problem. It's probably easier or more likely to bend the chassis brackets for the fuel tank than damage the skid plate.
  4. In my limited experience, the only engine that has appeared to have similar engine braking to a typical diesel is the Rover V8 I think, but that's probably because it's got something to do with twice as many cylinders compressing air?
  5. 1970 will be a 2A. The S3 came in about 1972, so there are some genuinely tax exempt Series 3s around, but not many!
  6. Leaky valve stem seals will result in oil burning too.
  7. Don't they go in the slots of the cappings?
  8. Hi guys, Wondering if anyone knows the official answer to this one. Why does the insurance premium drop depending on how many years you have owned the vehicle in question? This is not the same as no claims bonus either! Also how can an insurance company enforce checks on this if the logbook is merely a registered keeper and does not state ownership?
  9. If it's anything like Autocar's cgi model based from what little info they have, then it could be very nice indeed.
  10. Flux wanted a premium not too dissimilar to the NFU. Insurance premiums heading on towards two grand isn't something I can afford. Of course, having to make do with not being able to build NCD just so I can get about does mean when the time does come to having a normal car, I will have a bit of a nightmare.
  11. Or £1,800 in my case with them for a standard 2A. That's why I didn't go with them in the end and went with Footman James who were less than half that price. The drawback of course is with specialists like Footman James, you don't build any NCD.
  12. The description and info given for it now it's been unveiled sounds a bit Freelanderish. But saying that, it wasn't long ago since LR revealed that Defender concept some years ago which never went into production and is now at Gaydon?
  13. This just proves it's all about the badge and nothing more. Like the road maybe because it's road focused?
  14. Or build this for Europe and the North American markets, while assembling the current Defender in the east as Rest of World type of vehicle from LR?
  15. There's also the Toro to add into the list of potential overdrives, and these you struggle to get any parts for whatsoever!
