  1. Cheers guys, thats exactly what I was looking for :-)
  2. Hi, I have a problem which seems to be getting worse with my 2004 TD4 Freelander. Basically the clutch keeps sticking to the floor when I depress the clutch to set off or if I am reversing using the clutch. This started approximately 3 weeks ago but does seem to be getting worse. I have contacted my local stealer, sorry *Dealer* and they only reply was that they would have to have it in and it would cost approximately £200-£250 to check the clutch system (JUST TO LOOK AT IT). So I'm sure you can understand why I don't want to just give it to them. Basically whenever I put pressure on the clutch pedal it seems to drop to the floor and requires use of my foot to lift if back to normal height. Any ideas what this could be? If you need more info please let me know :-) Thanks Josh
  3. Hi, Sorry if this has been discussed on here already but it won't let me add my message to the other crankcase filter post. Anyway...I need to replace the crankcase filter in my 04 Freelander TD4. I have bought the part but for the life of me I cannot work out where it is located in the engine. Please can somebody help...I am used to working on my Defender and all of the Freelander engine just looks very plastic lol. Please help. Thanks Josh
  4. Thanks for the replies guys. I have been looking around and have seen a set called ZU Alloys which look really good and apparently they will fit. HOWEVER......I have no idea where to get them, I have phoned my local Landy place and they had no idea what I was talking about. I know its a long shot but anyone on here heard of them? Thanks Josh
  5. Hi, I am looking to change the wheels on my Series 3. I currently have a tatty old set of Disco 1 steels on it. I understand I can fit any Disco 1 or Defender steel wheels? I was really hoping that it may be somehow possible to fit a set of alloys...Can anybody tell me if this is possible at all? I have totally stock Series axles (with drums) and would prefer not to have to put spacers on them due to being told they do more damage than good. Even better than Alloys would be if I could fit a set of wheels which would give me a wider track, is there any wheels out there which will do this? Any help would be great and if you can tell me where to get them would be even better! :-) Thanks in advance, Josh
  6. Thanks for all the replies. I have noticed that the steering does knock when going round corners but I assumed that it was the steering box but maybe this is related? I recently changed the tyres to smaller ones and it seems to be knocking alot less now...I am confused! lol Any help would be great once again...Thanks :-)
  7. Hi, I have a 200tdi and R380 in my Series 3 Landy. I have a problem...Whenever I am going at high speed (over 50mph) the car goes fine when I have the accelerator down. The problem is that when I let of the accelerator to slow I get a VERY loud churning, clunking, grinding noise from the front of the car. I think it is coming from the front axle (assuming the diff). Please could somebody give any advice? P.S: I still have the original set of Free Wheeling hubs on the front axle mainly due to the fact I havent got round to replacing them with drive members. The car does not move if I dont have the Free Wheeling hubs in the 'locked' position. I am puzzled with this because I am sure that all Disco 1 transmissions are permenant 4wd aren't they? So sure the rear wheels should drive also? Please help...... THANK YOU LADS :-)
  8. Hi lads, I currrently have Disco 1 steel wheels fitted to my S3 Landy. I have been offered a full set of 5 Disco 1 Alloys for £50 and it seems to good to be true...Is is possible to fit the Disco 1 alloys to my standard series 3? Thanks in advance for the advice.
  9. Hi lads, Please could someone possibly tell me if I will be able to wire up a rev counter to my 200tdi in my defender. The engine is originally from a 93 disco which obviously had the rev counter so I assume it must be possible? The engine has had a new alternator about 2 month ago, the replacement did seem slightly different to the original but was told that the original was superceded by the new unit. But surely it must have the same connectors otherwise how would it work in a disco ? I'm waffling.... Please could somebody advise? Cheers Josh
  10. Hi lads, Hope someone can help.... I have a 200tdi from a 1993 Disco fitted into my 1982 S3 88". The engine has been running fine for around 4 months now but have never had the engine temperature gauge working on the dash. I connected the wires but think I must have done it wrong somewhere along the line because even if I do 77mph in the Landy the gauge still stays at the bottom. The gauge is a new one so that cant be faulty. Please could somebody help me to work out how to wire it in? Thanks in advance Josh
  11. Just to note: The specs are: Landy S3 88" 200tdi R380 main box LT230 Transfer Cheers
  12. Hi lads, Thanks for all of the replies. I havent had time to look at the Landy yet however I have noticed that if I drive with my left hand on the Transfer lever then it does not jump out. Does this suggest it is only the lever linkage (I really hope it is). The lever itself moves about quite a bit in all directions when in gear (can move it in a square shape). The transfer box is definately a lt230 and I only thought it was 2wd because if I have the front free wheeling hubs unlocked the car will not move but as soon as I lock them in it works fine. So I stupidly assumed it was front wheel drive. Thanks for all the helpful replies.
  13. Hi lads thanks for the fast replies, Sorry I simply assumed the left side of the box was 4wd and the right was 2wd, thanks for correcting me . I am using the Landy with the Transfer box in the position Right-bottom which appears to be the only I can drive smoothly in. I dont think it is locking into position because I cant hear any sort of noise when I put the lever back in position and then it will jump out again soon after. (now been 5 times today). The lever also feels a little bit loose and have to pull back hard on it. I will go back into position easier if I out the main gearlever in reverse. Thank you for any help Josh
  14. Hi there, I am new to this forum so please forgive me if I do any of this wrong. Thanks... Basicly, my problem is that when I drive in 2wd my Discovery 1 1993 Transfer box will randomly jump out of the 2wd high position. This has been happening more often over the past 48 hours...a total of 4 times in 2 days. This is worrying me quite a lot because when it jumps out the wheels all start to jump and the Landy shakes, grinds and jumps to a stop (locking the wheels in the process). The reason I have to drive in 2wd at the moment is that I think the back diff does not match the front diff because when I put it in 4wd the car jumps along and bangs. By the way although it is a disco 1 engine, gearbox and transfer box...it is fitted to a series 3 Land Rover. Please help.........Thank you.
