  1. Can be caused by a faulty sensor or wiring, worn hub, or even a seized brake caliper. You'll need to get it hooked up to a diagnostic system to find the fault code. That'll tell you which corner has the problem and simplify further investigation. If you don't have rovacom/nanocom then worth a check for sized capliers, worn hubs, or obviously damaged wiring to the sensors before taking it to the garage for the diagnostics. The fault will be recorded until reset, even if you fix the cause. The lights should go out on the next ignition cycle if the fault is no longer present.
  2. I'm confused... there appear to be 4 connectors on the starter motor solenoids. 1 battery and alternator 1 to the motor and two smaller ones. I'm guessing one of these is the +12V from the relay that activates the solenoids... what's the other one. And the second question... the top bolt holding the starter motor in place is stuffed (a process started by whoever touched it last and finished in my attempts to get it out). Does anyone know where I can get a stud extractor big enough to go over the head of the bolt? 12mm is the largest I have and it's not big enough... Or failing that, any other good tricks for getting it out without taking the engine out first? Andy
  3. Another club nearby is TV4x4. Based around Reading, but do some days at Broxhead/Brick Kiln. www.tv4x4.co.uk
  4. Mine is a 2004 Td5 Auto. The best I've seen from a tank so far (about 4 tankfuls since I got it) was 26MPG. Driving style makes a big difference in my experience.
  5. Which only goes to prove my friend's saying "it doesn't matter how cynical you become, it's never enough to keep up".
  6. Yes I am. I think a lot of people here are missing the point. The ECHR case isn't about whether speeding is acceptable, it's about the government abusing a principle that was laid in law for our protection. Let me ask this: do you think it's appropriate for the police to threaten people to obtain confessions? Imagine being pulled off the street and told "If you don't confess to this crime, we'll imprison you for withholding evidence, and for the same term as if you'd been found guilty of the crime". That is EXACTLY what's happening with speed cameras.
  7. How long before someone parks one up and finds it in Low when they get back? Andy
  8. Actually both are statutory offences. The problem with speed limits is that most people are near to breaking them (or breaking them) almost all the time they are driving. Mostly, going a few MPH over the speed limit isn't hurting anyone, and isn't going to. Combined with the lowering of speed limits, many roads are now dangerously slow as a result of drivers not being sufficiently engaged in the task of driving to be paying proper attention, and impatient drivers attempting dangerous overtakes when someone sticks to a too-slow speed limit. Over half the drivers in the country now have points on their licences for speeding, and almost all of those were driving safely at the time. The government need to be forced to respect our human rights. The proliferation of CCTV cameras (even ones with speakers now "You, yes, you behind the bike sheds. Stand still laddie!"), GATSOs and other monitoring is leading us blindly into a world that's even worse than George Orwell's vision of 1984. Apart from that, the number of road deaths in this country fell steadily until the late 1990s, and since them have increased slightly. What changed? The introduction of speed cameras. Just think about that, folks.
  9. If it's happening in heavy rain, it's most likely the pollen filter cover not fitted properly. The drain tubes come out either side of the gearbox. Get under there when it's cold with a torch and you'll see the covers on the end of the tube; prod them with a coat hanger to get any gunge out. Andy
  10. The annual London to Brighton Land Rover Run is on Sunday 1st October for anyone interested. http://www.london2brighton.org.uk has the details.
  11. I'll be there as well, somewhere between the Mud Club, Thames Valley 4x4 Club, and Dakar Club.
  12. Funnily enough, I had to do mine a while back. Definitely a weak point. Andy

You don't need a reset in theory, but if the warning lights are flashing then something has gone wrong. You need a visit to a man with a Rovacom/Autologic/Testbook. Drop me a PM if you're anywhere around Bracknell/Camberly.
  14. And there is discussion over on Mud Club about a green lane day on the 27th.
