  1. My mate asked me to pop in today and give him some ideas on his non starting issue. When I removed the distributor cap I noticed the rotor skipping up during rotation. When I got hold of the rotor to check how much play there was, I could lift it about 10mm and whilst lifted could turn it through 360°. What do you guys think has parted company or broken?
  2. I would 100% agree with you on this. The job is a nightmare. However, if you are tackling the same job on a Defender it is a breeze being on the side of the engine. Have done both and still carry the scars from the Disco experience.
  3. It is not illegal to drive with a winch bumper fitted. Normally with recovery points and fairlead protruding. Not exactly pedestrian friendly either. Can't see the difference apart from you normally have to declare the Winch to your insurer.
  4. I had better results with the overhaul kits than replacing the whole unit. Whichever way you go,don't forget to clean and replace the little mesh filter into the gallery of the head.
  5. You need to check that the leak is not from the Fuel Pressure Regulator situated at the rear left hand side of the head. Probably the most common cause of Td5 fuel leaks
  6. Think that sounds bad, try HDC for the first time. Bag of nails in a blender is normal. As said before, performance of the TC will depend on tyre choice. Wet grass can be a great leveller for all 4x4's
  7. It is a while ago now but I seam to remember the max towing being reduced to 2800. I may be wrong and have to say that if it was, I probably exceeded it several times.
  8. Unfortunately the Rover 2ltr they used in the Mpi was not the turbo version. Never could understand that other than the basic unit being somewhat stressed in its LR role. I had one of the first Mpi Disco's as a Company car. It was not as bad as most people thought and mine got used quite a lot off road as well as very high mileage on road.
  9. It can be difficult to leave Negative feedback.(without e bay intervention). I find it is best to tick the Positive box and then say what you really think in the comments.
  10. Not all. Only up to 2002 had the internal parts factory fitted,
  11. At five years old your winch battery may be approaching retirement.
  12. Fitted new, genuine CPS this morning. Started first turn of the key....... Result!! Just as a matter of interest I fitted it from above as I could not see how I was going to get my big hands through the available space from below. A bit awkward to see what your doing but very do- able. Thanks for all the help, all who posted.
  13. Sorry I should have been a little clearer. The pump is working but the engine not. If I am reading the manual correctly. The Cps is the one sensor that can cause the no fuel, no spark situation and not leave a fault code. I think the inertia switch does the same but have substituted that already with no change.
  14. No codes in any section on hawkeye if I force run the pump it works but does not run when ignition turned on. The Mil stays on so I am beginning to convince myself that it is the Cps £55 for genuine and a fairly easy swap so looks like the best place to start.
  15. Has been running fine. Parked up at work as normal but would not start at home time. Cranks over fine but not firing. Tried locking and unlocking, shifting gear (will only crank in N or P as expected. Going to try the spare key today and plug in hawkeye, don't know if this will show the fault but fingers crossed.
