  1. Hi Richard, Seems to me you are in the right area, after all you have done has made a difference to the running. The only other component that has not been disscused is the Fuel pressure regulator. I must admit I am not familiar with the injector seals but I have had to swap out the pressure valve due to leaks. It definately seems like a fuel starvation problem to me. Just come to mind. have you done any error checks just to rule out any elec faults? Cheers Iv
  2. Hi Rich, for what its worth, I had my pump sound just like that and the body was getting extremely hot. The cause in my case was returning from 3 weeks in france on the bike filling with petrol, got back jumped in the disco and put about 30 quid of petrol in . Had to be recovered. ended up draining the tank and replenishing with diesel, luckily fine ever since. So using this as a logical approach, 1/ petrol in fuel 2/ Water in fuel 3/ Pump worn not holding any pressure Purely My opinion Cheers Iv
  3. Lol,well teabag I must admit my post souds like I go doughnuting, Not quite, lol. "Disco 2 in a black circles advert" ??? Seriously though, from standstill, then flooring it did result in wheelspin, Oh and tyres were relatively new....ish road biased 'falken' 255's lol
  4. Hi Will, I think it was dynachip who came and remapped my 2002 td5. Took about an hour. The settup is basically, up to 1/2 throttle same as standard, above that and thats when you notice the difference. The lag is minimised and the ability to spin wheels on tarmac are enabled if thats your bag. This is the only tuning I have done to the disco but the difference is quite astounding, having that extra power when needed. It became more noticable while towing. I havn't noticed any difference in fuel consumption since. I cant remember the guy's name, someone here probably will. He did advise on de egr' ing. Cheer Iv
  5. well tuesday the 6th saw an email arrive with the activation code. I must say, for the price this unit is very impressive. As previously stated by Ally V8, the Testbook system for trade use cost in excess of £11000, for £299 ish (for one vehicle type) there are a lot of similar functions available. I will add Richard Pigg from Britpart was quite helpful during the registration process. The unit itself I can highly recomend.
  6. valve block replaced over the weekend, all sorted no more sag, and unless im mistaken the ride seems firmer on the back end. happy bunny
  7. I have had an incident with a V8 Rover, not the LR. The engine was rebuilt, oil pump primed with loads of vaseline etc. The motor ran fine with a healthy oil pressure. however after running for a while it developed an unusual squeaking noise, about once every 2 revs. It turned out that one of the "NEW" rocker shafts I had fitted had an oil feed hole missing. Not to say thats the problem, but it can be something as simple as that. Can you identify where in the engine the noise is coming from?
  8. Cant remember where I saw the doc your on about. However I did the sunroofs on my 300 a few months back. As I remember this is how. 1, remove 'A' post , 'B' post and rear 'D' post and safari window trims. 2. Remove sun visors followed by the overhead cubby and sunroof winders. 3. Remove the two interior lights and any grab handles that screw through the headlining. (There are plastic shims behind these) 4. remove any dog guards and the headlining panel should just drop down. Remove through the rear door. This will now expose the two sunroof surrounds and their respective drain tubes. 1 per side. (These tubes are the common culprit or rather their fitting to the surround) 5. pull off the tubes, unscrew the surrounds. you will see from the inside of the surround loads of dry sealant where the drain tube passes through. You need to remove all of this, clean up the area and re seal either with silicone sealer or maybe roofing sealer. 6. While you have the surrounds off you may as well remove the sunroof itself and re seal its seat on the car roof. Mine is manual sunroofs and I dont recall the mechanism causing a problem. When using the sealer, dont be shy with it, just make sure it adheres well. Once all is dry, replace everything. I cant remember any problems apart from part of the headlining material had come away from the moolded roof panel, I just used a contact adhesive to re glue before reinstalling. Hope this helps. Cheers Iv
  9. Ok just for information, I managed to remove my jammed ash tray, here's how. Using a stubby flat screwdriver from underneath the fascia of the ash trayto release on the left and right side. The fascia hooks over the front top hence the removal of the clock. I then used a credit dard from the bottom front of the now exposed ashtray and just managed to move the locking pin. The ashtray imediately opened and the culprit revealed. A small piece of plastic, origin unknown jaming the unlock pin. Not a mega, serious job I know, just annoying. Cheers Iv
  10. Does anyone know if this GPS sytem is updatable as in disc availability. If not can the system be removed easily enough? Cheers Iv
  11. some months back my TD5 started the sinking overnight syndrome. No messing about I bought 2 new airbags from JLS in Willenhall and set to fitting them. Not too bad a job. I did notice however, one of the 4mm pipe unions connecting to the air valves was a little hit and miss when I was tightening it up, low and behold last week on a brisk morning I went out to find the car pointing at the moon again. Further investigation revealed the leak was coming from said air valve union (Stripped thread). I guess this could have been the original problem. I bought a replacement valve block off ebay (used for £40) from Discovery 2 Parts I must say 2 days and the valves are here, fantastic service and the valves look great also. so a big thumbs up to them. just gotta fit now.
  12. Well after months of enduring the dreaded 3 amigos I finally got my ass into gear and sorted it. Using option B from a previous post that is no longer available. What bliss ;-) If anyone needs the web page for this operation I did manage to save it, send us a pm and i'll email it. Cheers Ivan
  13. Ok guys many thanks, not too bothered by it but i got about £10 in change in there. ;-)
  14. seems your taking this far too seriously, all i am saying is if anyone buys this unit either for personal or trade use, dont expect professional support from Britpart, no disrespect intended towards your colleagues who put the system together. As in my first post I have heard good reports on this system. Sorry if my attempt at conveying my own experience has caused offence. ;-)
  15. absolutely not,, but as a company shouldnt there be other support in place, and in this day and age of hi tec, how about automated web systems. In addition does this mean I should'nt have paid for it till it worked?????? lol I must admit I was a little shocked when Britpart HQ could not help, but that said it is Britpart.
