RRC LT77 lost reverse gear during being standing on driveway
hutchey replied to hutchey's topic in Range Rover Forum
hi, well it was as described. cleaned it all up and put it back and the ball bearing just wont move back against the spring with it in situ. so i either have to remove the circlip and replace the parts or get a new assembly and it looks like the part numbers have changed too as the pics of the ones i've seen dont look like mine. mine has the big bolt head bit at the bottom and not at the side -

thanks folks, will give it a go and report back -
HI all, Had my RRC on driveway whilst i'm trying to get the damn carb to work properly - that's another problem entirely Last time i had it started i moved it back and forth on driveway to test carb under minor load. reverse worked fine (bit sticky but ok) done nothing to the thing since and had it fired up to test new carb settings (still plopplops) but now it wont go into reverse its got fluid to right level, no air bubbles in slave cylinder tried with engine running and off tried with clutch down at various heights and it just feels like its only got 1st and 2nd on the left side. Anyone had similar problems? Cheers

Hi, is that the standard manual box? I'm looking at doing the same thing if i can find a good 300 engine with all the right bits.

hi, i've got a new tank, new external pump, new sender and once connected up (there are 3 connectors but i only have 2 wires on my RRC that seem to go to the sender) the fuel guage goes straight to FULL. Any ideas? I was thinking of testing the ohms but then why are there 3 connectors and i only have 2 wires? If the ohms is wrong, is there something i can do to get it to read correctly without buying a new sender? Cheers!

I'm running a single holley. not sure on the model info yet. haven't really checked. wonder if bike carbs etc would go on a v8?

damn, already got them delivered and had opened pack! oh well, they'll do for a couple of months until i complete the bodywork and can move it around.

cheers folks. MegaS looks too pricey to spend on my toy. I get the reasons, pro's and con's. As i'm converting her to cabriolet style i may save weight which should help. It needs a decent service so i've now got new Bosch plugs to put in. Might chnage the main power wire from battery to ignition too as other threads point to some interesting bits here. Then a full carb tune and jet check. if all this fails then i'll look at mega/efi/su's more carefully. don't think it helps me running mahoosive tyres

Cheers for the info. I've now washed my mouth out, apologised to the v8 and have ordered a service kit and will get her carbs tuned properly. Megasquirt/jolt - now i do need to hear more...................
