rear radius arm to chassis bushes, new ones are slack?
willfromsussex replied to willfromsussex's topic in Range Rover Forum
There is fore-aft slack. causes some axle movement on accel/overrun. I might fit some large washers to pad them out a bit , can't think what else to do really other than find some genuine ones. The 85 onwards ones are not interchangeable, the bushes and chassis holes are bigger I believe. -
Just put in new rear radius arm bushes in my 72 Rangie, orderd from a landrover place, but they are aftermarket bushes. I've only done about 100 miles of normal road driving and already they are sloppy, anyone else had bad bushes before? I understand they changed the design of these to bigger ones in 1985.

just noticed I have 2 different door armrests, one type has a scooped out section on the lower half, where the 2 screws go. Anyone know why there are 2 different types or which is early and which is late? Thanks!

I put new rubbers in mine and after a year they are showing signs of cracking , is that normal? Are there good and bad makes?

Having serious greif getting Power Steering Services http://www.power-steering.co.uk/ to refund my faulty box. They're telling me they've tested it and it seems fine. Now they have my money, and my steering box, not to mention the old one I gave them to start with. The manager was rude and unhelpful on the phone and is basically accusing me of lying about the box. I even told them the paint was coming off in my hands because they had not cleaned the box properly before painting it, and he said I was making it up. that is NOT how to deal with customers and win business. Does it not occur to these people, why would I fit their box, take it off, say its faulty, and go and buy one for twice the money and put that on instead. I even emailed them the receipt at their request. Grr. I know , having a rant but hey. Might stop someone else having the same problem. Oh I forgot, they brought a discovery box the first time , then tried to tell me I had ordered this, rather than they had made a mistake. I've never even owned a discovery! Absolutely shocking. PSS are 'sending the box to somewhere else to get tested' I think we can imagine what they will come back with , watch this space.

Help tickover 3000rpm after starting with MAF unplugged
willfromsussex replied to duncmc's topic in Range Rover Forum
theres no way the ecu could let the engine run that high as there wouldn't be enough air available , unless there was a post throttle (manifold etc leak ) -
Have you tried it without the steering damper? Personally I don't run one on mine. Was the car ok before you replaced all these parts? The steering box is the next likely part to be causing a bit of stiffness, which may improve a bit as it wears in. I'm about to fit a new Adwest to mine this week.
