  1. I made a box like the one in www.landroverdiscovery.net where it can stay in full time and the rear seats can still be used. Might not look big but when built it can hold 2 steel ammo boxes a mini compressor and a fat tow rope (thats goes along in the space behind the ammo boxes) and various odd and ends.....if you want pix I can take them for you later and post them....
  2. ..........a ha!!...OK thanks...........
  3. Just looking through my service history and found this mentioned.!!!........ Anyone know what it is??.....
  4. Normal driving nowadays with no autoroute runs gets me about 1000kms per tank....
  5. OK chaps...some good ideas...even the cork one!!!
  6. ...anyone know if there are such a thing as side opening/lift out back side windows for a Disco 2??....Have a big hound and direct extra ventilation would help on long journeys......I know I have`nt seen any but you never know on this forum!!!..........
  7. Went to Jaca in Spain and back to France. En route heard the telltale squeal of the waterpump bearing. When I lifted the bonnet and listened I had predetermined the waterpump...the noise even was coming from the right place!!.....never even thought to look elsewhere. I was able to limp home and about 2 kms from home the serpintine belt snapped. Free wheeled to my house straight after. Went about taking off the waterpump only to find that the end pulley and fan/vanes on the alternator had worked loose. The squealing was the mini fan/vanes rubbing against the alternator housing with EXACTLY the same noise as a waterpump bearing. The misalignment in the pulleys accounted for the belt later snapping.I had never seen this before, but that does`nt mean its not common,so I just thought I`d report it here for future reference!!....
  8. I`ve just done a check on my 300 manual....normal driving (at max 70-90km/h) and 4 long 150km stretches of motorway at 130km/h with (air con on all time this last week).....equals 28.5mpg in old money....no roof racks or suchlike and running BF Goodrich AT`s
  9. mmmm...good call.....thanks...just got my my one owner 1995 Disco with 178000kms on it with full service history and the gearbox is still good with no sloppiness in it at all so I`m making inroads to keep it that way....I do big holiday mileage in the heat of France and Spain and just don`t think the ATF will last the same....
  10. €10,000 .......
