  1. Yes there is a short cable behind the dash and mine was folded up, when I pulled it out to full length the range increased to two vehicles away. I had thought of extending further but remember reading somewhere that if someone nicks your keys whist out shopping they only have to go in the carpark and press the buttons to see which vehicle lights up, whereas if it is shorter they have to be quite close before it responds.
  2. Bought mine from Flatdog at Peterborough and the advice they gave me was to close the windows tight and leave for 24hrs to bed in as mine were rattling on first fit. Works fine now.
  3. Anderzander, your not the only one to suggest 2nd hand for the same reason, strongly thinking about that myself but part of me say's "why be scared just in case it happens again" but thanks for comments everyone.

  5. Just a WARNING to anyone that this happens to, DON'T DRIVE without putting at least 2 nuts on the bolts left on handbrake drum, the small screw holding the drum on came loose and nearly lost the drum but for the silencer stopping it falling off.
  6. Thanks for that. Took it out this morning gently, quite a bit of slack/slap on changing gear but handled OK. Will look into Gwyn Lewis ones.
  7. Well came out this morning, reversing off drive wondered what had happened to hand brake as not holding, also no drive in reverse. Into 1st, still no drive. After just replacing Master and Slave cylinders thought what have I not done right?. Tried high and low box without success then tried diff lock, drive at last. My son found a nut on the drive so went under to see what it came off and guess what? no rear prop shaft. Now I know they don't just fall off silently, so only conclusion is that some thing has helped themselves over the weekend, good job it was left in gear or it could have rolled into the road. My dilemma now is do I replace with genuine (£395.50) or other, seem to range from £75 to £185 + vat. I know you get what you pay for but any pointers for and against would be very welcome. Also how can you make it difficult for scroats not to take next time? Finally, is it still OK to drive around locally not going over say 55?
  8. Nope, you will find it nearside engine bay above the exhaust pipe and can be done from engine bay (11mm spanner). Hope that helps.

  10. Thanks Guys, Just wanted to know where to connect in the engine bay as the socket is a lot larger than the anderson.
  11. Wanted to use for connecting my jump leads to, the connector quite large and would be in the way in the footwell (have air con), also cables not long enough to go from engine bay to battery box. Regards Dennis
  12. Hi, looking for some advice regards fitting anderson type plug under the bonnet of an 2003 TD5 90. This is the type used on fork lift trucks and someone suggested connecting to the starter motor as this is fed direct from the battery and earthing on engine or chassis. Is this doable or am I looking at potential problems? As ever, thanks for any help. Regards Dennis.
  13. Thanks for replies. Apart from taking it all apart (which may be next job), can't hear any noises at all on full lock in Hi or Low box. No play in wheels or steering, drives fine in a straight line with no pulling at all to the left (thought maybe brakes sticking or traction control stopping that wheel slightly). Any other thoughts before dismantling it all? Regards Dennis
  14. Hi Folks, 03 90TD5xs 54,000 miles. Had this problem quite a while but only ever happened when weather around freezing. Occasionally when pulling away and reaching first corner the vehicle would emit a sound not unfamiliar to a flock of gees for a few short bursts. then every thing fine after. Trying to emulate never produces anything (bit like going to dentist, toothache disappears). drives, brakes and handles fine, so have put up with this on and off. Until the last few weeks when the noises are happening every journey (and it's not cold) some times very loud for short bursts, or just the occasional quiet honk. Anyway yesterday jacked the 90 up on axle stands and a spun the wheels, normal spin for a few turns then stopped, tried moving top and bottom for any play, no problems. got son to start up and put into gear and drive with me checking under to trace any noise, worked through gears Hi and Low and also with diff lock on, No noises,tried holding individual wheels when in 1st, wheel held other 3 turned ok, worked away around them all still no joy, then stood back and walked around as my son went through the gears again and then noticed front nearside wheel not turning but other 3 were. Brakes on then started through the gears again, changing gears moves the wheel for a few turns then it just stops, each gear change moves the wheel then it just stops again. I can spin the wheel OK, there is a bit more drag than the rest but not enough to stop the wheel under drive (or so I thought). Can anyone shed any light on where to start. Sorry for being long winded,but hope I have described it fully. Just a thought my ABS and Traction control lights are on (Nanocom says sticking shuttle valve) not sure if this would affect anything also had new pads all round last service, less than 6,000 ago.   15. Iv'e had the same problem and was thinking of trying to make my own cheaper. Would be interested on knowing where you are getting yours from as it sounds ideal? Regards Dennis
