  1. Judging by this. http://php.wiltshire.gov.uk/row/closures/closure_search.php And I drive it last year I would assume it's still open, however it does normally have deep puddles and tends to be a bit overgrown so be prepared for scathed paintwork
  2. Was planning on driving over both westdown, lark hill ranges and also the around German village Don't have a set route, just tend to make it up on the day and criss cross the plain on all the byways Dan
  3. Hi all It was thinking of going out for a drive on Salisbury plain this coming weekend (Sunday 15 November) And was wondering if any one else fancied coming along? I know it's a bit short notice, but it's always a good day out. If you want to assist with Navigation that would also be good, as I have been out driving the plain for several years I propose meeting at suitable place for around 10am, Any questions just ask Dan
  4. Like what's already been said, for the tricky bolt, make sure you have as many extension bars as possible to hand, So that hopefully you will get the right length one to fit the gap around the manifold. And don't over tighten the stud that the thick cable attaches to, mine was a copper stud and I snapped it off while changing the starter one day!!
  5. From my experience they are a bit heavy on pads, however they are simple to change Also is you read the instruction manual this is a page about course adjustment of the calliper arm, this works as I did it the other day, This is quite easy todo in situ on a disco but I have no idea about a defender I also recently fitted a set of non x eng supplied brake pads, and they were actually fractionally too thick to fit in the calliper and disc, but that was easy to fix Dan
  6. Yep good idea about the train controller as they are usually variable 12v supply anything from 0.5 to 2 amp rating Dan
  7. Sounds like you were lucky, it's sounds simply as thought the suspension has more travel in then the brake lines allow, Probably best to swap the +2 hoses for some +5 as the a chance it could happen again. Dan
  8. It might be worth adding the following to your list: hd clutch fork New propshadt nuts and bolts as they will be removed anyway New slave cylinder for 2nd hand box New oil and filter and copper washers for lt77 Box Few pop rivets to install the gearbox rubber gaiter New rubber gearbox gaiter Dan
  9. I run a set on my disco, they good off-road but do have a bit off road noise, but they cheap!
  10. My current temporary (2 years so far) workbench is just a old door on its side, with a vice bolted on. Hope this helps Dan
  11. Should be possible, but have a look for the articles about getting the td5 dash to work with a 300tdi row (rest of world) engine. Youve got to change the wiring slightly as a TD5 is ece and a tdi or td engine isnt
  12. Mine started doing a similar thing, turns out the there was a loose connection on the pipe that runs from the fuel filter into the lift pump, A few turns at the lift pump end to tighten it, and she fires up instantly now And mine was also after an engine swap, so it is likely that something , is either loose or not seling properly Dan
  13. Another vote for A plan here, they do have a special vehicles policy but only certain staff and certain branches can do it, The salisbury brach do, just insist on speaking to Phil
  14. I did !!!! and also my brother did in his 90 who doesnt post on here It was a fun day out, and a good site and was lots of fun Dan
  15. Theres a spring in the clutch and also one in the slave cylinder these two work against each other via the rod so it wont move. Ive just broke the clip on mine and re-assembled my disco without it, It still works fine
